I am the third of five children, and for the first four years of my life it was just me and my two older brothers, who were quite the pair of buddies. As the youngest, and a girl, I was definitively excluded from many of their games and life experiences, though in my desperate need to be just like them, I didn't always recognize it. For example, whenever we used to play "house", my brother Justin played the dad, my brother Nicholas played the mom, and I always played the babysitter who watched their variety of adopted stuffed animal children while they went out on a date. These dates would last for hours, and I would dutifully watch all the children. I haven't actually asked them about this (and since one of them doesn't talk to me anymore, he's not likely to answer...), but I'm going to venture a guess and say that those "dates" had more to do with G.I. Joes and TMNT than they did with dinner and movie, and the whole time I thought I was playing...
We fill in the blank as we go...
