Six Quirks in the Life of Erika

Okay, I've been tagged for this one multiple times, so here goes: Six Quirks about me: 1. When it comes to my media diet, I'm bulimic: I binge and purge. Right now, I'm binging on Lost. We discovered that all the episodes are online, and since Brent has been sick the past three days, we've been watching a lot of it (we're in season two now, in case you were wondering). Other notable binging instances: on Halloween we watched something like 16 episodes of Arrested Development --we stayed up until five in the morning. Occasionally, when we go to Brent's parents' house, we watch as many episodes of Monk as we can before we crash at 2 or 3 in the morning. When we house sit for their dog one week over the summer, I think I watched (I am not making this up) 50 episodes of What Not to Wear . And then, of course, we get to reading: I have read every Harry Potter book in one day except for number seven (we were working on Food Boy when it came out, and we were exh...

Another reason I'm excited to move.

I'm listening to Fresh Air right now, and they're talking to a clarinetist, and I'm reminded how long it's been since I've played. Maybe when we're not sharing walls, I'll be more inclined.

The Future Children of Brent and Erika?

It's been a lazy day today--I woke up feeling sick, went back to sleep, and I've had an "I slept way too long" headache ever since I got up. So, what a better day to waste a bunch of time on the internet and do something like this? Makemebabies.com tries to guess what your future children will look like. I think the girl is pretty cute, and actually looks a little bit like my brother's kids so I think it might be sort of right. The boy, on the other hand... Let's hope for girls.

The Canine Life of Brent and Erika and Chloe!

Well, as you may or may not have heard, we have a new member of our family! She is the one that's looking at the camera. She is a silver dappled dachshund, and she's great! Right now she's living with her parents still, but once we move into our house, she'll come to live with us! Her name is Chloe, and she's so cute and spunky! Just like her owners, she gravitated right to the electronics... We think her belly is really cute. She liked to give me kisses. Somehow I like it way more with a puppy than with a big dog. She's just learning stairs. Here you can really see her wicked awesome coloring.

Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?

Our puppy was adopted. :( I hope she's in a good home. So we're searching for a new puppy, but we'll probably just have to wait until after we get settled, because I don't want to get attached to something I can't have again. Sorry for the slow down of the posts--sometimes it's hard to find motivation because I want to be a good blogger, and for me the definition of a good blogger is someone who contributes meaningful details about their life, thoughts, opinions, experiences, etc. that do something other than constitute just a list of things they've done recently. That, and I've been reading all these things lately that talk about blogs primarily as a way of telling the story of me, and I'm trying to decide if I want to be that self-focused. Am I that important that I need to sit and muse about my life? Isn't there some other way that I could spend my time?

The Home Life of Brent and Erika

Our lives are crazy! We just bought a house! This is it! It's got a HUGE park right in the back yard! We're planning on closing on Nov. 21, so we'll be moving the last week of November. It's crazy and exciting! This is not the first home we made an offer on--that one didn't work out because the people who previously made and offer actually did get their loan approved. We think it's for the better, because the listing agent has agreed to contribute to our puppy fund. :) In case you were curious, this is the dog that we want to get. We're thinking of calling her Delilah, or Daisy, or maybe Penny. We're not completely sure. Last night we had about 4 groups of Trick or Treaters, and we watched 18 episodes of Arrested Development, which kept us up until 5:00 this morning. Not the best idea, but our lives have been fairly stressful lately and I think we felt a need to be irresponsible...
